Privacy Policy
How we collect, use, and protect your personal information.
Last updated: 2026-10-28
Introduction
We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our service.
Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information to provide and improve our service:
- Account Information — Your name, email address, and other details you provide when creating an account.
- Usage Data — Information about how you interact with the service, including features accessed, frequency of use, and interaction patterns.
- Device Information — Device type, operating system, browser type, and IP address, used to keep your account secure and to optimize compatibility and performance.
- Cookies — Small data files stored on your device to keep you signed in and remember preferences. See our Cookie Policy for the full list.
- Payment Information — Payments are handled by Creem, our merchant of record. Creem collects your card and billing details; we receive only your email, the order, its amount and its status. We never see or store card numbers.
Instagram Accounts You Check
When you check a public Instagram account, we read its public data through our data provider and save part of it. We use it to see what changed since the last check, and to show a recent report to the next person without reading Instagram again.
For each account that is checked, we save:
- Its public profile: username, name, bio, category, website, follower, following and post counts, and a link to its profile picture.
- The accounts it followed most recently (the first page of its following list, or up to the first four pages for unlocked reports), each with its username, name and picture link, and when it first showed up in our checks. This is how reports mark new follows and show a time.
- A guess, made from the first name only, of whether each of those accounts belongs to a woman or a man. Reports use it for a rough split and say it’s a guess.
- For unlocked reports, also: its newest followers (username, name, picture link and when each first showed up in our checks), people who liked or commented on its newest posts, accounts Instagram lists as related to it, and the join year and country from Instagram’s “About this account”.
We only read public accounts, and we never log in to Instagram. The account you check isn’t told, and we never show anyone who checked it. When someone has daily alerts on for an account, we check it about once a day for them, the same way.
How long we keep it. We keep this data while people keep checking the account. Once nobody has checked an account for 90 days, we delete everything we saved about it.
If it’s your account, you can ask us to delete what we saved about it. Contact us as described at the end of this policy.
Your Checks
- Daily limits. To stop abuse, we note which accounts each visitor checks each day. For signed-in users, we note the user ID. For everyone else, we save a scrambled code made from the IP address (a keyed hash), never the address itself. We delete these notes within 4 days.
- Unlocked reports. Reports you unlock are saved to your account, so you can open them again under My reports. They stay as long as your account does.
- Daily alerts. If you turn on alerts for an account, we save which account and until when, and email you its new follows and followers through our email provider. Turn them off any time on the report or under My reports.
- Profile pictures. Pictures in reports load through our server, so Instagram doesn’t see your IP address. Your browser or a cache may keep a picture for up to a day.
How We Use Your Information
We use the data we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the service.
- Process transactions and send related confirmations.
- Send technical notices, security alerts, and support messages.
- Respond to your questions, feedback, and support requests.
- Detect, prevent, and address fraud and abuse.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share data only in these limited cases:
- With service providers who help us operate the service, under confidentiality agreements: Creem (payments, as merchant of record), our email provider (sign-in codes, receipts and the alerts you turn on) and Cloudflare (hosting and database). Some of them process data outside your country.
- With our Instagram data provider (currently HikerAPI), to build reports. We only tell it which Instagram account is being checked, never your name, email or IP address.
- To comply with legal obligations or respond to lawful requests from public authorities.
- To protect our rights, property, or safety, or that of our users.
Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit, access controls, and regular reviews. No method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, but we work continuously to protect your information.
Your Rights
You have the right to access, update, export, or delete your personal information. Email us at the address below and we will do it within 30 days. Order records are kept as long as tax law requires.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, sending a notice through the service.
